I was twelve years old when I first heard 'Dammit'. I remember hearing this song and it taking complete control over my soul (in a good way). The song being 2:45 minutes was just not enough but yet smart because it left the people wanting more. Once I fell in love with 'Dammit' it drew me close to check out the album 'Dude Ranch' which happened to be their 2nd album. The album was OUTSTANDING!




So 15 years later my teenage dream came true, and I got to see Blink 182 live. Keep in mind this was just right after they reunited after the whole split up. Don't ask why it took me so long to see them,but with the whole band going their own ways also did not help either..




Hearing them live brought so many memories and seeing Travis Barker on the drums was EXTRAORDINARY! Mark still a great leader along with Tom's energy equalled a great show. I would definitely see them live again, so worth it!




Now for the fun facts about these cuties :) Blink 182 were formed in San Diego, CA. Blink 182 fan base produced more as they went on tour in 1996-1997 with great bands such aS Pennywise and NOFX also including the well know "Warped Tour". Their second album "Dude Ranch " expanded the audience and went platinum in 1998. Travis Barker had sign with Blink 182 in 1999 and the band released the album 'Enema Of The State' , what a great way to let the fans know a new drummer was here to stay, and not only that 'Enema Of The State' sold more than 4 million copies. Blink 182 was hitting mainstream and the rest is history :)

Serj Tankian

Live at The Forum Inglewood,CA 2008

I believe we all know Serj Tankian from a band we call "System Of A Down". It all started with a song name Sugar , I was like this song is SICKKKKK! So I decided to check out the album which is "Toxicity" it was not the first album, but I believe it was the second album. That album was great it was kind of a new sound to me.

The 80s was known for it's Hair metal, the 90s for grunge, but 2000s was bringing something new, and that included System of A Down. I was pretty impressed by this band already, and I'm not that easily impressed I must say.


It was pretty heart breaking when you heard Serj Tankian went solo.I had heard his first single "Empty Walls" I was like okay Serj is doing his thing! I was definitely interested in his music and see what he can bring. Luckily, he was one of the opening acts for Foo Fighters , when I went to go see them live. Serj was wayyyyy better than Rise Against (my opinion) live! I definitely enjoyed the story telling between the songs he told to the crowd. Serj's voice is amazing !!!!! He sounds exactly the same BUT better.


Serj Tankian was born in Beirut,Lebanon of the year 1967. When he came to los angeles,CA he was only 8 years old. According to sources, He attended Cal State and learned the music works there. then later in 1994 Serj and few bandmates formed the famous System Of A Down in southern california.




The LAST album that was RELEASED was in September 2010, which is "Imperfect Harmonies".

Rock your Mind!!!

The Virgins

Live at El Rey Theatre in 2007



I checked out The Virgins back in 2007 LIVE! The Virgins were part of the opening act for headliners Tokyo Police Club. To be quite honest I did not know of The Virgins when I saw them perform at that time, It was the very first opening act. I really did not know what to expect.I really didn't know much of their songs either. One thing I will admit is that their sound definitely sounds great.

I enjoyed the vocals and melodies for not knowing any of their music and lyrics. I like their show but I wouldn't say I loved it. My opinion is just that I feel they have potential of being GREAT but I feel that right now at the moment they're just OKAY to me , but like I said this is just my opinion.


One of my pet peeves is when I go see a live band and they don't interact with the crowd. If they don't interact during the show then it just sounds like a live CD being played, but when the band interacts with the crowd they bring the MUSIC to LIVE!

The Virgins is an american band formed in New York.According to sources The Virgins have toured with Iggy Pop, The Stooges, and Sonic Youth. They've
played at popular festivals such as SXSW and Lollapalooza.

White Rabbits

Live at El Rey 2007



Well first things are first, as you know by now I have a passion for good music. If you didn't notice already =]]]] One of my hobbies are exploring new music before it hits mainstream. I feel that you should appreciate indie music before people abuse it (get my drift). One band that I enjoyed exploring was "White Rabbits". I had heard a few samples of them and got to download a song from them.

From this one track I was gravitated by their sound. My first song that I heard was "The Plot". So when I heard that 'White Rabbits" was opening for 'Tokyo Police Club', I thought it was a great package. The venue for this show was at El Rey Theatre which is in Los Angeles, CA... White Rabbits was the 2nd opening act that night so I definitely that was a great line-up that night. I got to check them out love plus hear more tracks then just the ones I downloaded. They definitely put a cool show before Tokyo Police Club. I was also amazed by the vocals ..one word INCREDIBLE!


As the years passed by, they came out with singles with the following year, and still manage to stand their ground.They're very efficient in their performance.


The White Rabbits were formed in Brooklyn, New York according to sources, but originally from Colombia,Missouri. White Rabbits have performed in big festivals such as Coachella and Austin City Limits..White Rabbits influences are The Specials,Aztec Camera,The Style Council,,etc



Band Members: Alexander Even ( Guitar and Vocals), Brian Betancourt (Bass), Matthew Clark (Drums and Percussion), Jamie Levinson (Drums), Gregory Roberts ( Vocals and Guitar), and Stephen Patterson (Vocals and Piano)

DataRock

Live at Amoeba in Hollywood 2008

Datarock mans Rock on Computer according to the Norweign band.Which would describe their electro touch =]]]... The year 2005 they had release a song that I would hear at hipster bars and Indie 103.1 when it was still on air, but now you can catch it online at indie1031.com. The single i'm talking about is called "Fa Fa Fa". It's really catchy up tempo dance song =]]].


So I want to make sure that you Readers out there are inform that even when you don't have cash to go to concerts, that their is venues out there that let you see shows for free. For instance AMOEBA is a venue where I got to see "DataRock " there for FREE! They have an Amoeba Records Store in Hollywood, San Francisco, and Berkely. So readers definitely check out the website for more info.


So when I went to go see Datarock I was very excited to see them up close. I remember the band wearing matching red jumpsuits which totally remind me of the 80s band "Devo". I thought to myself I hope they give a good fun show as fun as they look..They did alright , you can feel the playfulness in their music. I'm a big fan of dancing and they lived up to my expectations. That's the reason why I like electro music...But even if I didn't see Datarock for free, I would totally pay for them =]]]


Datarock formed in 2000 in bergen, Norway. When Datarock started they had 4 band members , now it's 2 left. According to Wikipedia sources Datarock was hitting worldwide in the U.K before the states. Datarock's few inspirations are Devo, Talking Heads, and happy Mondays..etc

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE

COACHELLA 2007

Where do I start like c'mon people it's RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE =]]]] It feels like it was yesterday when I heard Rage Against The Machine for the first time . It was the year of 1996 and at the time they stood out in their own set of style , compared to the bands from the 90s. You really didn't have that many rock bands in the 90s were their vocalist is freestylin' in the songs.

I was listening to them for a few years until 2000 where Rage Against The Machine announced they are breaking up, I was definitely sad about the whole situation BUT in 2007 they came together for the first time on stage at COACHELLA. So I got my ticket that day lmao! I just had too and boy was it WORTH IT!

I was totally moshing in the pits , getting footage, making friends... Oh man can you say GOOD TIMES! They interacted with the crowd and improvised on songs..Hearing Rage Against The Machine Live was giving my veins goosebumps. They did an amazing encore, man worth they worth every dollar and every minute.


Rage Against The Machine formed in 1991 in the city of Los Angeles. They won grammys and sold over 14 million albums. In 1997 Rage joined forces with Wu-tang for a summer tour to support political causes.

Silversun Pickups

COACHELLA 2007



I enjoy a few indie bands and one of them is "Silversun Pickups". Silversun Pickups got my attention when I first heard "Lazy Eye" I was totally hooked. The crazy thing about this song it doesn't even have a chorus but it was still a catchy tune. I heard them around 2006 and during that year I checked out their album. The album was pretty good.

I finally got a chance to see them Live in 2007, they were one of the headliners on Friday night at Coachella. I remember seeing "Tokyo Police Club" and after them I rushed to the main stage to see Silversun Pickups. They came out on perfect timing , it had been a hot day and when they started to perform the sun started to come down and you can feel the breeze with the sounds of the music.

I love them live they put a great show and the bassist Nikki kicks ass =]]] and not just because she's a girl but because she seriously talented.

Silversun Pickups was formed in Los Angeles, CA. According to wikipedia they were formed in 2002, and would get their start at L.a Clubs mostly Silverlake Lounge or nearby Spaceland.They were also originally named "A Couple of Couples'.
